Fort Bend Texans Philosophy

Welcome to the Fort Bend Texans!  We appreciate your interest in our program.

The Fort Bend Texans Mission drives our methods and coaching style.  We work diligently to:

· Improve the opportunities for players to enjoy youth and High School athletics in a true player development atmosphere, delivered by coaches with direct game knowledge and experience (professional, collegiate, significant high school).

· Bring the long established and very successful Instructional League concepts used in professional baseball to the high school "select" level.

· Emphasize important personal character qualities: 1) Players taking personal responsibility for their own participation and development, 2) Taking an organized approach,  3) Being realistic about your strengths and weakness and finding a way to contribute,  4) Maintaining a temperate and positive attitude about your participation.  These are the same concepts young men need in order to be successful in life.

We are strong on philosophies, and dedicated to fulfilling our mission.  We are able to attract coaches who have participated in baseball at a high level to our program because of what we are trying to do, not because what everyone else is trying to do in youth sports is so attractive.

We are not a program about "Daddy-ball," "parent youth sports babysitting," game stress other than the game situation, or a misplaced focus on achievement being measured by a lucky hit, a bad call, or poor sportsmanship.  Note these are the main reasons in every survey as to why players quit playing and coaches quit coaching.

We work to win but don't mind losing "select" baseball games.  We often discuss our success in terms of what our players do later or outside of our program (e.g. success with their high school team, college participation and scholarships, demonstrating a skill they desperately needed).  We work to get better and enjoy the game.
