Five Tool World Series Weather Protocol

Coaches and Administrators,

We are excited for the World Series event that starts tomorrow in Houston.  As you are probably aware, there is rain in the forecast and the potential for development in the gulf later in the week.  We wanted you to be aware of the protocol this week as we are using multiple natural surface fields that could create issues if field conditions will not allow play.  We are maxed out on field space with few spaces available if a significant number of games are lost.  We will operate under our normal policy Wednesday and Thursday.  If a game is delayed or postponed for more than 1 hour, that game will be cancelled and we will move to the next game slot.  At the conclusion of play on Thursday, we will assess where we are with lost games and make a determination on what needs to be done to maintain the integrity of the bracket.  Each following day will be handled the same way.  We will determine what games can impact the pool winners and give those games priority in the rescheduling process.  Let’s hope that the forecast is wrong and all of this is irrelevant.

We know it has been a trying summer for all.  We are grateful to you and your clubs for making the best of a difficult situation this summer.  Travel safe and we will see you tomorrow.

Thanks,

Nick Thames
